About Project Babylon
I would not call this movie ‘life changing’. With its minimal character development and nearly-copied plot (Anybody remember the “party line” story from volume 3 of the manga? Yeah.), it really does not flesh out the story in ways the manga failed to reveal. It is not like the X drama tracks, which reveal a significant portion of Seishirou’s past. It is probably on the same level of relevance as the Tokyo Babylon OVA: fun, a treat for fans, and a new story, but not theory-shattering by any means. It, like the final chapter in the seventh volume of the manga, shows Subaru’s life alone between the two series. The special effects are terrible, the actors are marginal, and the music is no Kanno Yoko score. It is grade-A Japanese horror B-flick, but since it involves Subaru and Seishirou and I am obsessed, it is suddenly of interest.
I have spent quite a bit of time obsessively analyzing / writing fanfiction about / cosplaying / etc Tokyo Babylon and X, so yeah, I kind of like it. Numerous fans out there are in the same, somewhat frightening boat. Hopefully this site will be of interest to fellow obsessive fans, because I really, really am trying over here to make a website guarenteed to kill your brain cells. You know you want to hit this proverbial joint of t3h ultimate fun. So, relax and enjoy the ride. |
